Photography has been a passion for me from as far back as I can remember. Beginning with my mom's old Kodak Brownie point and shoot, I took endless photos of family pets. Growing up camping on Vancouver Island I progressed to taking candid shots of family and friends, always looking for the ''moment'' that captured the individual. I moved to Long Beach in the early 70's and with my first 35mm camera discovered the magic of the natural world around me. With a wealth of subject matter at hand, I learned the joys of capturing the beauty of both the close-up macro world and the vast west coast landscapes. I am a self-taught photographer -- my skills have been honed through the sharing of knowledge and ideas exchanged in photography clubs, and I was also fortunate to be the staff photographer for ''West Coast Country'' magazine for 3 years. I am inspired by nature in all it's entirety...the colours, lighting, symmetry, detail and movement. Nature has supplied all that I need to work my craft. As a photographer I use all my senses to get the feel for a scene, that way I feel I set a mood for my shots.
