Festival Opening ~ Emily Carr Exhibition

Kwisitis Centre, PRNPR With Special Guests Pacific Rim National Park Reserve (PRNPR) A feature exhibit showcasing the life and art of Emily Carr. See prints, rare artifacts, pottery and more, some borrowed from the Emily Carr House Museum in Victoria. Festival opening ceremony - 2pm, with special guests. Traditional First Nation Welcome. Everyone welcome.

Emily Carr - Epic Traveller

Talk and slide presentation by journalist Laurie Carter, who has followed Emily’s trail to some of the best loved and remotest outposts of British Columbia.  For a single woman of her time, social standing and age, Emily Carr's travels were of a truly epic quality. Join the journey as Laurie delves into the life, landscapes, and First Nations traditions that shaped a painting and writing legend.

‘The Remarkable Emily’ featuring Susan Shillingford as Emily and Geoff Noble as Singer and Narrator, provides audiences with an entertaining and insightful window into the life and work of Emily Carr and her passionate connection to the West Coast and its indigenous peoples. The two performers are accompanied by over one hundred projected images of BC’s wild and wonderful forests and coastline.
