  • Du-Quah Gallery features a carving First Nations art and local painting and photography in Ucluelet.
  • Eagle Aerie Gallery is one of the best known galleries in Tofino, featuring the work of First Nations artist Roy Henry Vickers.
  • Mark Penney Gallery  is Ucluelet’s newest gallery. Located in Whiskey Landing (bottom of Main St.), the gallery features a selection of local and Vancouver Island Artists in a variety of mediums.
  • Pina Styles features original art and clothing design from a small shop in Ucluelet.
  • Reflecting Spirit Gallery is an artist owned and operated consignment Art Gallery, carrying ‘Art that Reflects the Spirit of the Canadian West Coast‘.
  • Shorewind Gallery in Tofino offers a variety of art, photos, jewelry etc. by local and Vancouver Island artists.
  • The Lounge Collection is Tofino‘s place to go for eclectic handmade art from Tofino and Vancouver Island artists.

Culture

  • The Monday Night Movies blog covers the movies shown every Monday night at the Clayoquot Sound Community Theatre. A cheap night out!

  • Pacific Rim Whale Festival is the season’s first and biggest festival, celebrating the return of the migrating grey whales. Held during spring break (Mar. 15-23, 2008).

  • Tofino Botanical Gardens is a wonderful gardens, facility and venue for many arts events. Home of a café and the Clayoquot Field Station.

  • Tofino Time magazine is a long-running monthly print and on-line magazine about Tofino and its people. An excellent Tofino resource.

  • Tough City Writer is the genteel, quirky blog of Tofino professional writer and editor Adrienne Mason (her main site is under “Writers” above).

  • Westcoaster.ca is the West Coast’s on-line news outlet, covering the West Coast and Port Alberni.

  • The Westerly News is the the West Coast’s weekly newspaper.

Art schools

  • Tofino Workshops for the Arts is run by Dolores Baswick, career photographer, teacher and arts organizer.

  • Renee Romancia teaches singing and piano, and conducts creativity “playshops.” She’s also a writer herself.

    I am looking for more pottery that I purchased at a gift store in Ucluelet in Oct 2009 over by the grocery store. It says HANDLE on the bottom but I have had trouble pulling this person up on the web. Any help would be appreciated.
