Love them or loathe them, it’s hard not to admire the intelligence of crows. Crowlogue, a chapbook of writing by members of the Clayoquot Writers Group, celebrates, venerates and laughs right along with these tricksters in poetry and prose.

In 2005, Tofino writer Adrienne Mason and artist Marion Syme began dreaming of a small publishing house dedicated to making engaging, beautifully crafted books that evoke the spirit of the place they call home. Five years of talking and planning later, Postelsia Press was born.

Wed. 7 July, 8 :00pm — Move: the Company

An exciting evening of modern dance with excerpts from ‘SOLD DOUBT’
Ucluelet Community Centre

Door opens 7:30. Adults $15, children $7

‘SOLD DOUBT’ is a contemporary dance rock concert created by Vancouver dance genius Josh Beamish and MOVE — the Company. This show features seven dancers performing to instrumental renditions of the iconic rock group No Doubt’s greatest hits, blending high-octane physicality with witty theatrics, as it plays on public perceptions of the popular music industry.

Through the hits, ballads, dance remixes and obscure songs you never knew you loved, ‘SOLD DOUBT’ blurs the lines between art/entertainment, dance/theatre and comedy/ tragedy. Perfume ads, photo shoots, product placement, designer clothing, Youtube, lighting, costume and dance all come together to reveal a tale of a girl, her band, and a shopping cart full of oranges.

PLUS: Dance workshops!

  • Youth (12 & under): FREE, workshop runs 3:30 – 4:30pm
  • Teen/Adult: $15, runs 5:00 – 6:00pm
    For Teen/Adult: performance + workshop combo $25.

But this performance showcases a dialogue between the artists on stage, plus an audience watching and listening to strokes of both brush on canvas and fingers on keys, in a unique creative fusion.
