Courtney Johnson · performance artist · email ·
“Courtney created the Ucluelet + Tofino Glee program in 2012 with the belief that children and youth deserve a performing arts program on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
Courtney started her first music lesson at the age of three. She began with piano and moved into voice when she was five, followed by dance and theatre when at the age of six. During her childhood and teenage years, she performed full-length musical theatre performances and placed in Kiwanis music festival competitions. She pursued a BA in psychology in Vancouver, researching how music and resilience can intertwine from a psychological perspective. Studies show that music can be a significant deterrent of deviance in children and adolescents. It has since become her passion to help people (especially children) find their voice.”
